In the Midst of the Battle, Remember the Cattle

Several times I've refered to the phrase, "He owns the cattle on a thousand hills". I know that Terry and others remember the old Sunday School song that we used to sing. Some of you have told me that the expression is new to you. Obviously you have never heard the song.

Here are the lyrics:

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills,
The wealth in every mine;
He owns the rivers and the rocks and rills
The sun and the stars that shine.
Wonderful riches more than tongue can tell,
He is my Father so they're mine as well.
He owns the cattle on a thousand hills
I know that He will care for me.

Some have despondently responded with their own version when God hasn't provided a cow.

It goes like this:

He owns the cattle on a thousand hills
But who needs a cow right now?

Check out a previous post to see how God can orchestrate the sale of cattle to meet your needs.

  3. Hello, Mr. Fisher!

This evening when my dad read the Bible to us, this verse reminded me of you...
When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
    Ps 94:18-19(NIV)

Thought you might be encouraged by it...
    From, the lil Pilgrim Pal

P.S. Thank you for typing up those words for ignorant me ;) Oh, and I really like the "Pilgrim Notes" instead of "Comments"--something different!

  4. Hi Mr. Fisher~
I know that I don't post comments very often, actually only once before about your son with autism; however, I still read this blog site regularly and am truly blessed by it. I wanted to send you a note for a few reasons-first I am currently attending the Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the program, but it is like a Leadership/Christian Perspectives training program. We take two classes each divided into two parts and the class that we are currently in focuses on worldviews. We are also getting trained in the “Truth Project” which is an incredible program that reveals God's truth claims and explains and establishes His framework for the Church, Family, Community, State and Law as described in the Word. It has been absolutely amazing and life changing. Anyways a few days ago we were learning about and studying the State-mainly using examples from US history; however, there are three Canadians here and I being American but having such a strong passion and heart for Canada have been meeting with them. We have been praying for Canada and its people who are lost and hurting and I truly believe that God has revival planned for the nation. I was thinking about you and the nation of Canada the entire class and wanted to share this with you. It is our challenge to keep and act on the passions God has laid on our hearts before we allow those passions to be silenced or taken out (Revelation 2:5) I’m fearful for I see God removing the Lampstand, but I know that Darkness does not overtake Light, LIGHT overtakes the Darkness. I will never cease praying for the nations (Isaiah 5:7) Thanks for being a constant reminded and encourager toward dedication in prayer!! I know it is our most powerful tool and for being an advocate for righteousness in America. Secondly and defiantly most excitingly I have been in contact with Doug Halcomb the chapel coordinator in Texas and he has asked me to come down (I live in Denver, CO) and help out with the camp in College Station, TX this summer. I know that this may seem silly; however, I truly see it as an answer to prayer. I know that my passion for hockey is truly from God for I don’t even play and I can barely skate, but I love the Lord and really have a passion to see the world of hockey impacted for Christ. I have a deep desire to see HMI camps started in Colorado and he and I see this as the start to that!!! I am beyond excited. When I shared this with the Canadian girls here at Focus on the Family, one of the girl’s (Christi Wood) mouth dropped for she exclaimed that she grew up at those camps and her dad had worked with HMI out of London, ON for about 30 years. I just see God doing amazing things and desired to share them with you. I hope to one day be able to visit Ontario and possibly even help out at a camp up there!! I know this has been long and really has no relation to the post it’s commented under, but I don’t really know how to send you a message apart from commenting on different posts I want you to know that I am praying for you and your family continually!!

I pray the Lord blesses you for your prayers and your love for Him. May He continue to use you. Thank you for your prayers for Canada. I'm a transplanted American, living here in Canada, and praying for revival and spriritual awakening.
