Quotable Quotes

The following quotes appeared on Pilgrim Scribblings some time ago. They are so powerful that they should be brought out of the archives more often.

The Supremacy of Missions...

"I have seen, at different times, the smoke of a thousand villages - villages whose people are without Christ, without God, and without hope in the world." - Robert Moffat

"The command has been to "go," but we have stayed - in body, gifts, prayer and influence. He has asked us to be witnesses unto the uttermost parts of the earth…but 99% of Christians have kept puttering around in the homeland." -
Robert Savage

"And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives…and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted." -
Nate Saint

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." -
Jim Elliot

"If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him." -
C.T. Studd

"Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't." -
John Piper

"No reserves. No retreats. No regrets.” -
William Borden

  1. Thank you for the reminder. Those are geat quotes. How I have always wished to serve the Lord abroad, but for now I must be content with the mission field that the Lord has given me.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
    -Romans 10:14

  2. Romans 12:1..
"I beseech you therefore, brethern, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies, a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonalbe service."

Robert Moffat, Robert Savage, Nate Smith, Jim Elliot, C.T. Studd, John Piper, and William Borden and so many of your own heros, David surely gave far MORE than their reasonalbe sacrifice!
How we fall so far short of that!...from Terry

    This was a good post!
