Wings

Wings is one of my daily devotional books, penned by Jill Briscoe, an excellent writer. She begins with the following poem entitled Wings. Jill echoes the prayer of my heart as I continue to send out encouraging cards and letters through Epistle Sports Ministries. My Pilgrim Scribblings are also published with the prayer that God will use them to bless and encourage my readers. May the Lord bless you today and give you a real sense of His presence.

"Give my words wings, Lord.
May they alight gently on the branches of men's minds
Bending them to the winds of Your will.
May they fly high enough to touch the lofty,
Low enough to breathe the breath
Of sweet encouragement upon the downcast soul.

Give my words wings, Lord.
May they fly swift and far,
Winning the race with the words of the worldly wise,
To the heart of men.
Give my words wings, Lord.
See them now nesting
Down at Thy feet.
Silenced into ecstasy,
Home at last."

- Jill Briscoe

"The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens me morning by morning, He awakens my ear to hear as the learned." - Isaiah 50:4

  1. I really like that scripture you chose. Isn't it amzing how one reads the Bible through over and over, and can still miss verses like that?! Whenever I find a really special verse, I write it out on a 4"by4" piece of colored paper and stick it up where I can see it. You should see my desk!!! I find it very helpful in memorizing verses and their references. And for those who are wondering, Hebrews 11:1 is not my FAVORITE scripture, but it is ONE of my favorites. I have it paired with Romans 8:25 on a colored paper. (Go look that verse up now :)
