  2. A few months ago while I was still at school, a friend from Ottawa sent me the newspaper article on Elgin and a copy of the front page of the paper, which was of Mike, holding Elgin. The story brought me to tears, and to remind myself to pray for Elgin and his family, I pinned the story up on my bulletin board. I had to take it down a few days later, because every time I looked at his adorable face, it made me well up again. It absolutely broke my heart when I heard he had passed away.
Elgin made a huge impact on the community here in Ottawa. I know so many people who were involved in raising money for his family for hockey tickets... that little boy inspired people who didn't even know him! His passing has been talked about a lot in the past few days. Many people have pointed out the coincidence that out of all the downtown streets in Ottawa to pick from, Elgin Street has been named the "Sens Mile" during this year's play-off run. Seeing as Elgin was such a huge fan, this somehow seems even more appropriate.
I was really touched by Mike's involvement. He sure is a stand-up guy isn't he?! The world would be a better place if there were more people like Mike.
Thanks for posting all the information about little Elgin.
