Aflame

This morning as I was driving home from work the 1st four lines of a poem/chorus/prayer came to me. Rather than scribbling the lyrics down on a piece of paper I thought I'd share them with my pilgrim pals here on Pilgrim Scribblings.

This is my prayer:

Come Holy Spirit come,
Ignite my hardened heart;
Endue with power from on high,
Thy holy flame impart!

If the Lord gives me some additional verses I'll share them with you.

O that all of us would offer this heartfelt prayer to God. We desperately need a fresh infilling of the Spirit of God in these days when truth has become so subjective!

  1. AMEN! We need the Spirit to be alive in our hearts, infilling us!

    I was at a conference last week where I saw people filled with the Spirit on fire for God, as they praised, prayed, danced, and worshiped Him. It was amazing. Then I went to hear a guest speaker at a congregation that was Spirit-filled, and I was so encouraged. The people would sing songs, and be led by the Spirit in to prayer, and would stand there worshipping God, and then go back to singing...there was no man-made structure, but certainly no disorder. It reminded me of what I read in one of my favorite Christian books, "Like a Mighty Wind"...I don't know if you have ever read it, but it and the sequel "The Gentle Breeze of Jesus" are excellent reads. Anyway, while I was there at the conference, and at the congregation I attended as a guest, I thought of so many of you Pilgrim Pals and wished you could experience what I heard and saw.

    I hope that wasn't too preachy or anything...Keep up the Faith, Keep looking up, "quench not the Spirit" (1 Thess. 5:19), and enjoy Victoria Day! It's beautiful here in Southern QC.

    God's blessings to you,
    from the Little Pilgrim pal
