Collecting Junk

Recently I had occasion to be in a very junky yard. I mean JUNKY! This picture is nothing compared to what I saw.

As my eyes scanned the collection of rusting cars, old tires, and rotting "stuff" I thought how easy it is to get to this state if we fail to deal with the "junk" as it appears.

If every piece of junk was disposed of as we became aware of it, we would never get to the state that so many of us are in.

Junk can take over a desk. Before long a basement is the resting place for so much stuff. Then the garage is inundated with things that we don't want to get rid of but we will NEVER use. Before long our yard is overtaken as well. All of us have seen yards like that.

I got thinking of our Christian lives. If we would confess our sins to God as soon as we are aware of them and, as they say, "keep short accounts with God", there wouldn't be such a build-up of sin in our lives. Sin that is not dealt with attracts more sin and before long Satan has a foothold in our messy lives.

Let's determine NOT to become walking, talking junkyards. Let's put the garbage where it belongs...in the "sea of God's forgetfulness".

How's your desk, your basement, your garage, your yard, your life? Something to think about...
