Get The Hint?

This humorous note appeared in David Jeremiah's Turning Point devotional e-mail this morning:

A son in college wrote home, saying, "$chool is really great. I am making lot$ of friend$ and $tudying hard. Plea$e $end me a card a$ I would love to hear from you. Love, your $on."

The father wrote back, "I kNOw you are an hoNOr student, but do NOt forget that the pursuit of kNOwledge is a NOble task. You can never study eNOugh. Love, Dad."

  1. Ha! David..
    Kind of like years ago when we heard this one;
    Dear Dad..
    No mon!
    No fun!
    Your Son

    Dear Son..
    Too bad!
    How sad!
    Your Dad

  2. That's like the one I heard about the child going off to university and being told to read his Bible.

He'd write home asking for money and his parent would tell him to read a specific scripture verse.

The next time he asked for money - same thing...and so on and so on.

Finally, he came home - without any money. His parents asked if he'd been reading his Bible. "Faithfully" replied the son.

The father took his Bible and opened it up to the specific areas that had been quoted...out fell some $20's and $50's.

Guess the son wasn't so "faithful" in his Bible readings, after all.!

  3. Good one Anonymous!!!

One time my brother was telling the Sunday School children a story.

He gave one child a choice..."What do you want? This peanut butter sandwich or this chocolate bar?"
Of course the child picked the chocolate bar!!
    What kid wouldn't?
"Well now" my brohter said.."I am going to open up this sandwich."
He opened both halves of the sandwich and out came one giant groan from the children!
Ted said then, "What we have here children is a toonie fish sandwich!!"
    Two whole toonies Ha!!
    FOUR DOLLARS!!
PLUS a good sandwich to boot because the toonie had been wrapped in clean, clear plastic!!
And what kid DOESN'T like a peanut butter sandwich?

The verse Teddy used for the children that day was, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you!..

    Hi David!!.....from Terry

  4. Ha ha- that's funny! I must admit, as a university student, I am well versed in the subtle "asking the parents for money without actually asking" routine. (Although I've never done anything quite so obvious!).

How lucky I am that not only do I have one father who will help me out, but that our Heavenly Father is also there to listen to me panic, and provide (the Lord always provides, doesn't He!).

    God Bless-

    *L
