Nothing Between

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." - 1 Peter 2:9 (ESV)

Is His glorious light shining through today or is it blocked by all the seemingly harmless branches and limbs of everyday living that separate us from His loving touch?

I'm reminded of the words to an old hymn as I pen these scattered thoughts...

Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
Naught of this world’s delusive dream;
I have renounced all sinful pleasure;
Jesus is mine, there’s nothing between.

Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
So that His blessed face may be seen;
Nothing preventing the least of His favor;
Keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

Nothing between, like worldly pleasure;
Habits of life, though harmless they seem,
Must not my heart from Him ever sever;
He is my all, there’s nothing between.

Nothing between, like pride or station;
Self or friends shall not intervene;
Though it may cost me much tribulation,
I am resolved, there’s nothing between.

Nothing between, e’en many hard trials,
Though the whole world against me convene;
Watching with prayer and much self-denial,
I’ll triumph at last, there’s nothing between.

  1. David, I love the picture and the thoughts accompanying it - great stuff...
    Keep writing my friend, it may inspire me to get back at it one of these days!

  2. David...That Brodie guy SHOULD be back into blogging. I read his site and it is really good but that is not why I think he should get back to it. I checked out his advise about blogs on one of your postings. I am sure I have improved a bit on the regularity of my blogging. I have really TRIED to blog everyday like he suggests. I know I still fall short but at least I am trying...He better take his own advice..Ha!! from Terry

  3. The posting that I am talking about is in the "The Blog Inn".....Terry

  4. Thanks for posting Charles Albert Tindley's gospel song Nothing Between. He also wrote another dandy, Leave It There. And today is the 76th anniversary of his death.
