Jesus Did...Jesus Gave

Today I had the privilege of leading the Commmunion service at our local church, Auburn Bible Chapel. I used a collage of verses from various New Testament books to point out "The Finished Work of Christ". What a pleasure to exalt our Lord Jesus Christ and make much of Him!

Here's my outline:

THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST

WHAT JESUS DID:

PREPARATION
HUMILIATION
CRUCIFIXION
PROPITIATION
RESURRECTION
EXALTATION

BECAUSE OF WHAT JESUS DID HE GAVE US:

SALVATION
JUSTIFICATION
REDEMPTION
RECONCILIATION
ADOPTION
SANCTIFICATION

WHAT JESUS DID (with scripture references from the King James Version)

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew 3:17 & 4:17) This was PREPARATION

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 5:6-11) This was HUMILIATION, CRUCIFIXION, RESURRECTION & EXALTATION.

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. (Rom. 2:25) This was PROPITIATION

WHAT JESUS GAVE

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16) This is SALVATION

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Romans 5:1 and Romans 3:24) This is JUSTIFICATION

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God. (Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 9:12, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 10:12) This is REDEMPTION

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. (Romans 5:10, Ephesians 2:16-18) This is RECONCILIATION

Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (Ephesians 1:5, Romans 8:15) This is ADOPTION

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. If a man therefore purge himself from these (vessels of dishonour), he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. (1 Thessalonians 5:23, 2 Timothy 2:21) This is
SANCTIFICATION

JESUS…

to the vile sinner (that’s all of us), He’s the
Justifier
to the slave He’s the Redeemer, the Great Emancipator
to the lonely and disenfranchised, He’s the
Reconciler
to the orphan, He’s the loving
Abba Father...Daddy
to the committed disciple, desirous of living a godly, holy life, He’s the
Sanctifier
