SIN, Call It What It Is

Last night I began reading Jerry Bridges new book, Respectable Sins. I was reminded again that we tend to categorize sin and use synonyms that make the word "sin" more palatable. SIN is SIN! Don't fool yourself! Call it what it is! We can't escape its reality but we can get freedom over its clutches.

I've had an idea percolating in my mind all day and I've finally put it in writing. I'm serving it up here for all to sample.

Here's that little rhyme mixed with some thyme:

Misdemeanours, mistakes, misdeeds, indiscretions,
Mix them together and add some transgressions;
Throw in some seasoning to make them more tasty,
Boil then let simmer, now don't get too hasty.
When you smell the aroma from the things you've put in
Just take off the lid, there's a pot filled with SIN.

  1. that is most excellent and clever ... but most important, it's TRUE!

    good post ...

  2. Fish,

A song that's flows thru my mind when I think about sin and its consequences:

"As a child, I'd foolishly, turned God away,
not knowing the heartache a sinner must face.
But God in His goodness, let me return,
to share with His children, this lesson I've learned:

Sin will take you farther than you want to go,
    Slowly, but wholly, taking control.
Sin will leave you longer than you want to stay,
Sin will cost you far more than you want to pay."
